Meet Tonya Baradaran
Tonya Baradaran is a proud autism mom, children’s author, and advocate dedicated to helping all children find their voice. Her work centers on building pathways that bridge the everyday challenges facing autistic children with practical, hopeful solutions for families. Through her writing, partnerships, and community engagement, Tonya champions neurodiversity, early childhood development, speech support, and inclusive learning access.
After nearly 20 years in Corporate America leading Customer Relationships, Sales, and Strategic Partnerships, Tonya pivoted her career toward a mission rooted in love, purpose, and advocacy. A graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in Creative Writing and an MBA, she now focuses on expanding educational access for families everywhere. Her goal is to create age‑appropriate, developmentally supportive, neurodiversity‑affirming books that empower young learners across the autism spectrum and beyond.
Tonya’s inspiration came during a simple moment: book shopping with her son, who is autistic and deeply connected to cars. She noticed that many children’s books did not reflect the exceptional strengths, characteristics, and communication styles of neurodivergent children. Realizing the need extended far beyond her own family, she created the “Spectrum of Cars” Series — a collection of inclusive children’s books featuring car characters designed to support speech development, expressive language, social‑emotional learning, early academics, and confidence‑building.
Her literature blends social stories, speech‑development language, early learning concepts, and neurodiversity‑affirming content to help children thrive in the classroom and beyond. Each book is intentionally crafted to support autistic children, children with speech delays, ADHD, dyslexia, early learning differences, and neurodivergent communication styles. The series celebrates strengths, encourages connection, and helps children build foundational skills through familiar, joyful characters.
Tonya believes deeply in love, kindness, hope, and community. Her long‑term vision is to build partnerships that connect families and shoppers to easy, everyday learning access through her series. She plans to expand Spectrum of Cars into a multi‑stage collection that grows with children, honors the characteristics of autism, and supports developmental milestones at every age.
As she scales her efforts, Tonya is committed to giving back to schools, libraries, community programs, and inclusive events.
Her mission is to uplift all children — especially neurodivergent learners — by creating books that reflect their strengths, celebrate their individuality, and help them shine.
Her Inspiration and Aspiration
When Tonya’s son began experiencing speech delays and later showed early indicators of Autism Spectrum Disorder, she immersed herself in learning how to best support his communication, development, and everyday needs. That journey sparked the creation of a unique children’s book series designed to help young learners build essential skills through short, engaging stories that encourage dialogue, expressive language, literacy, and early academic growth.
Spectrum of Cars™ offers joyful, interactive books that give children hands‑on opportunities to practice foundational concepts such as opposites, colors, counting, shapes, self‑advocacy, writing, and early math. Each book creates a structured yet exploratory learning space where parents and children can connect, communicate, and grow together. The series is intentionally crafted to support neurodivergent learners, speech‑delayed children, and early childhood development through familiar, playful car characters.
Tonya’s vision is to continue expanding the Spectrum of Cars™ universe so it grows alongside children at every stage of development.
Her goal is to meet young learners exactly where they are, empowering them to build confidence, strengthen communication, and become the best versions of themselves.
